Representatives of the Serra Club of Salem-Keizer enjoyed lunch with the seminarians of the Archdiocese of Portland at Mount Angel Seminary on January 18th. The annual luncheon was supposed to be held on the Feast of St. Nicholas, but as it turned out, the Feast of St. Anthony of the Dessert worked better for the attendees. Seminarian Marcos Alvarado enjoyed the visit. “I was very grateful to them for taking the time to come,” he said.
The club is a part of Serra International, a lay apostolate focused on supporting vocations to the ministerial priesthood and vowed religious life, as well as personal spiritual growth. The organization started in 1934 in Seattle and was brought to Portland around 1937. Its current members are very active in their prayer and relationships with the seminarians.
